SUNDAY UPDATE

Posted on Posted in Piper's Blog

Piper is doing really well and continues to amaze us all. She is experiencing very little pain and she looks great. The nurses have been taking excellent care of her and she has been very comfortable.

I was told this morning that if everything goes well, she’ll move out of the PICU tomorrow and onto the main floor. They took out her arterial line this morning so she has some extra range of motion with her feet. As she continues to heal, we will know more about when she can come home but if things go well, she might be home by next weekend!

Last night was a frightening night although it had nothing to do with Piper. I’m not sure what time it was but some time in the middle of the night, the little boy next door (maybe 10 or 12) had a major problem. I heard running and yelling outside our door and lots of commotion in his room. As I walked passed his room on my way to the bathroom, I saw about a dozen people working feverishly over him. It was absolutely terrifying and I just laid in my bed and prayed for him. I was very relieved to wake up this morning to learn he was still with us. I asked a few nurses what happened but no one will tell me anything however their eyes say it all. The PICU can be a tough place to be. I will be happy to get Piper out of here even though we have to share a room on the regular floor.

Des dropped off some cokes for me this morning while I was still sleeping and James came by for a while as well. We are all praying for Des’s dad who had emergency gall bladder removal surgery this morning down in Ocean City, NJ. It was thoughtful of her to swing by here on the way down this morning.

I will let you know when we know more but all is well for now. Thanks for all of the love, support and most importantly, prayers.

Love – Chris and Erin

  3. Hi Chris and Erin,
You may remember me from the Infant Rm at EEC last Fall. I was a pm assistant in Piper and Harper’s class. I quickly fell in love with your precious girls and enjoy memories of playing and talking with them. Piper’s personality was evident, as was Harper’s.
Last weekend I learned that Piper has been dealing with quite a bit and would be having surgery on Fri. I volunteer at A.I. Children’s Hosp. And made it my first order to find Piper on Mon. Morning. I found her in the PICU surrounded by nurses and therapists as well as her Grandmother. She was sitting up for the first time and responsive to the therapists’ singing. What a strong little girl! Piper has captured the hearts of all who have been working with her. She is in good hands and at a great place! I was very heartened and touched to hear that Piper’s Daddy would be giving her the ultimate gift. My thoughts and special prayers are with Piper, you and your whole family as you take this most important journey together. May Strength, Resilience and Healing be a theme for all of you in the coming months and always.
With Loving thoughts and Healing prayers,
Miss Josey (Pm assistant-Infant Rm Sept. – Nov., 2013).
