SURGERY DAY – UPDATE 3

Posted on Posted in Piper's Blog

Kidneys are out and all went well! The kidneys actually looked fairly normal which is really good. They took out some lymph nodes to check them but they looked good. Also, the ovaries looked totally fine although the uterus looked a little different but there is nothing to worry about.

They are closing her up and moving her to the PICU which is where we’ll get to see her in about an hour and a half.

They also put a peritoneal dialysis port in which will allow us to dialyze her at home at night rather than bring her to the hospital 3 times a week. It will have to heal first so it might be several weeks but eventually we will get trained on using the new port.

She didn’t lose any blood to speak of which means she didn’t need to get a transfusion which is great news. That was a fear as a transfusion might have jeopardized my viability as a donor.

All of your prayers have really helped and our little Piper is so lucky to have so many people who care so much about her.

I will certainly keep you updated.
